Art Retreat in Spain

Spending a few unforgettable days painting, learning and enjoying life under the sunny skies of Spain. This retreat is perfect for anyone who loves watercolor or wants to explore this medium in a relaxed and inspiring environment.

In addition to our fun painting sessions, where I will teach you watercolor techniques, we’ve added even more to make your experience special. Enjoy a scenic hiking day in Spain’s natural beauty, a private wine tasting led by a sommelier at the villa, a hands-on workshop to learn how to make authentic Valencian paella, and a cozy BBQ evening under the stars.

Suitable for all levels of painting experience. Not-painting partners are warmly invited to join this creative journey.

Day 1 (May 7), Wednesday - Arrival/Relax Day

Transfer from Alicante or Valencia airport. Sightseeing tour of the area around the house (depends on the time of arriving)

Day 2 (May 8), Thursday - Hiking/Sightseeing Day

Refreshing break with a scenic hike through Mediterranean landscapes.

Day 3 (May 9), Friday - Plein air Day in Port of Javea

Spending a painting day at the scenic Port of Jávea. We learn how to:

• Paint water and the movement of the sea.

• Simplify complex scenes like boats and buildings.

• Create depth and atmosphere using light, shadow and perspective.

Day 4 (May 10), Saturday - Sketching+Wine Degustation+Barbeque

We will capture the surroundings with quick, expressive sketches, focusing on light and composition. Afterward, a private wine tasting experience hosted by a sommelier at the villa waits for us. We will discover the rich flavors of local wines and learn about the traditions and stories behind each bottle.

To top off the day we’ll gather for a warm and inviting BBQ evening under the stars.

Day 5 (May 11), Sunday - Plein Air Day+Workshop Paella Valenciana

At the beautiful Cala del Portixol we will paint a peaceful bay with clear turquoise water. We will learn simple ways to paint the reflections in the sea, and how to capture the texture of rocks and stones. I will also show you techniques for creating depth in your landscape and blending colors for a natural look.

Day 6 (May 12), Monday,

Breakfast

Transfer to the airport.

Accommodation

Participants are accommodated at local villas (Les Beates or similar). Each villa has a swimming pool, 3-5 bedrooms with the option of single or double beds.
